Yesterday we had our med teaching session at our clinic. It went fine, but it was a little long. It took 90 minutes, and I was ready to get out of there after about 45!
Both DH and I practiced with the Follistim & Gonal-F pens, and mixing the Menopur for the syringes. I feel like I could do it, but he seems more confident. The plan is that he’ll give me all my injections unless he’s unable to be home for some reason.
There was a slight hiccup in that the nurse who was teaching us took one look at the calendar they gave and realized there was an error. They had me listed for Heparin shots on CD 8-15. She said I wasn’t supposed to be on Heparin at all and that if I was, I would need it earlier than CD 8.
The RE’s medical assistant apologized and gave me an extra box of Follistim for free, so that was nice. They also said they’d return the Heparin to the mail-order pharmacy for me and make sure I get a credit. I appreciate that, but once I got home I began to get a little un-nerved about the whole thing. I’m glad they caught the error; I just hope there are no more!

Anyone else think the guy in this flyer looks terrified? LOL. Talk about a fake smile!
Estradiol blood draw, ultrasound, and first night of stims begin on Tuesday!

Yayyyy! You’re a week away! And yeah, that was a mega mistake! Glad they caught it. But in reality, I can’t imagine it would have ever gotten to the point you injected yourself with the wrong med… there are so many chances to check in. I’m sure they’ll remind you and check with you every time you change or add a medicine. Glad they will sort out things with the pharmacy though. That would have been the part I was pissed about!
You’re so close! Excited for you!
Glad it went well! Yeah, he does looks terrified! That’s funny!
Nice that you got something for free!! What a blessing from the Lord! Glad they caught the error now too 😉
So glad they caught the error and made it right! And yes.. that guy looks totally terrified, sounds about right.
He really does look uneasy! I wonder if they were trying to capture an accurate image of potential reactions to those lists of meds. Or maybe there is a picture of some type of anatomy on the computer screen they’re looking at.
