Today I’m interviewing Kaitlyn from Homemaker’s Heart. She blogs about family and homemaking and is sharing her story with us today. Enjoy!
Q. Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Kaitlyn Elizabeth, and I am a child of God saved by His grace. I passionately love serving Jesus Christ along with my amazing husband of 13 years. We serve joyfully in children’s ministry at our church, and are currently homeschooling our four children (age 8 and under)
Q. How long did you try to conceive and what struggles did you face?
We went through four years of infertility, all of which included three diagnoses, two operations, and the tragic loss of our first child.
Q. What was your lowest point and how did you handle it?
My lowest point through all of this, was during that 4th year, finding out that we were miraculously pregnant, but losing that baby at 3 months. It was such a devastating time thinking that this was my one and only chance of being a mom, but then…It was gone! It allowed me to raise my faith to a new level, thinking “Who else do I have but you, God? In whom else can I really put my trust?”
Q. What advice would you give to women who are currently experiencing infertility?
My advice strictly comes from a Christian perspective. Above all else, guard your heart (from wrong thinking and jealous thoughts), seek and trust Him, and keep pursuing faith in this area!! Without my faith, I’m sure I would have crumbled.
Q. Did your experience with infertility affect your subsequent pregnancies or how you view your children now?
My experience didn’t really affect anything, other than I was a tad on the fearful side. But again, that’s where I had to step up my faith.
Q. Is there anything else you’d like to share with my readers?
Being told I might not have children was THE exact thing I always prayed would never happen! Funny how things unfold, but if this didn’t happen in my life, I know that my faith and trust in God would not be where they are today!!. I fully believe that all things happen for a reason, and that if these circumstances hadn’t happened in my life, I wouldn’t be where I am today!! Hebrews 10:35-36 was a key verse that I held onto, and got me through it all (along with one of the most supportive and loving husbands!!)
I love hearing from women who have come out the other side of this journey. Please leave a comment below to let Kaitlyn know you appreciate her sharing her story!

Kaitlyn, Thanks for sharing your story! I think what you said about protecting the heart is SO important! xoxo
It’s so encouraging to hear stories of people who have gone through infertility and now have kids. Thanks for sharing this one. I agree with Kaitlyn that infertility can challenge and deepen your faith in ways that would be impossible otherwise. Good reminder!
