Happy Sunday! My egg retrieval is scheduled for 9:45am today, so it’s a big day!
As of Friday night, I had 19 follicles (!) and a lining measuring 8.8mm. Due to the amount of follices, my RE decided to have me trigger Lupron instead of Ovidrel. Hopefully that will help me avoid OHSS after the retrieval.
Here’s an update on how I did with everything else this week.
Stims
This week was a little tougher than last week. I began to feel more bloated and had some discomfort if I sat for long periods of time. I’ve been feeling SUPER bloated the last two days, and you can visibly see my stomach sticking out. I guess that’s to be expected after ten days of stimming.
Fortunately, I had very minor bruising in my stomach from the injections. One big noticeable bruise, and several small pin-prick bruises. I think the bruises in my arms from the four blood draws I had were worse.
The hot flashes at night disappeared this week, but I still wake up to pee like my life depends on it! My barely-B breasts are more like C’s and feel like they weigh 100 pounds.
I did feel a lot of fatigue this week, but luckily I was able to sneak in some naps. (My husband thinks it’s funny to take unflattering pictures of me while I sleep!)
Nutrition
I managed to stay gluten-free and caffeine-free again this week. That makes two weeks without either. It’s definitely the longest I’ve ever gone without caffeine or gluten. I enjoy not having the afternoon-slump, but I am beginning to feel a little limited in my food choices. I’m picky, so I guess I just need to expand my palette. We had a small family celebration for my niece’s 5th birthday last night, and I just wanted to devour the pizza.
I did get to enjoy some gluten-free brownies that my husband made me. It’s a mix from Trader Joe’s and it was pretty good!
I appreciate any prayers or positive thoughts you want to send my way as I recover today!

Bless your dear heart, Lisa! My heart just breaks for you as I read of all you are going through in order to be able to conceive. God brings you to my mind so often, and I plead with Him to send you the baby you so desire and deserve. I am believing Him to make this happen for you…and very soon!! You will make a wonderful mother. I am trusting to hear GREAT news from you soon!!!! Lots of love is being sent your way. 🙂
Thanks for the kind words, Cheryl. It is a struggle to go through this, but I try to remember just how blessed I am to even attempt it. Finances, logistics, and health issues make it impossible for so many other women, and I try to keep that in mind throughout all of this. Thanks so much for the prayers and well wishes!
Good luck, praying all goes well!!
I have it’s going well!!! And the picture of you and your cat napping is very cute 🙂
