Push.
It means to press forward with force, to exert persistent pressure on something.
A lot of people may think that they need to push God to get Him to take action on their behalf, especially when it involves infertility.
When a prayer request seems to take forever to receive a positive answer from God, it’s natural to think, “I need to beg and cry more so He can hear me. Then God will move on my behalf.
Or, “I need to clean up my life a little bit more, then God will think I’m worthy for Him to give me what I want.”
Or, worse yet, “God’s doesn’t care. I’ll never get it unless I make it happen. I’ve got to do this all on my own.
The problem with those thoughts is that they are natural. Those thoughts don’t look for the supernatural to work. They each rely on natural self-effort.
But God, in His fatherly, “no-matter-what” love for you, set aside the requirement of your effort to get Him to move on your behalf. He abolished that requirement 2000+ years ago when Jesus went to the cross and satisfied every demand. All the Father requires now is faith. Faith is what pleases God and faith is what moves God, not human effort. Why? Faith is a form of rest. When we rest in Jesus, acknowledging that He has done everything for us to have everything, that pleases God (Hebrews 11:6; James 1:17).
If you feel like you need to push someone to make a move, push on your enemy, the devil. Use the Word of God to push the devil out of your circumstances. Jesus’ response to every cunning challenge hurled at Him from the devil was always from God’s Word, the Bible – His response was, “It is written…” (Matthew 4:4-10).
Do like Jesus did and use the promises of God to exert a determined attack on what the devil has tried to do in your life. Be bold enough to verbally affirm God’s promises as the means of pushing and resisting the devil’s deceptive devices. Then you’ll begin to enjoy rest and experience overcoming victory!
An Affirmation for You
My faith in Jesus’ love and power is what pleases God and gives me hope in overcoming infertility. I choose to rest in Him because my victory is in Him.
