When you’ve been dealing with infertility for awhile, it’s tempting to think of yourself as an “infertile.” I know I’ve been guilty of calling myself and others “infertiles.” I don’t want to make a big deal about word choice and semantics. Sometimes we just use the word because it’s an easy way to describe or identify someone going through infertility.
But our identity goes so much deeper than our ability to reproduce. We may be experiencing infertility, but we are not wholly infertile beings. We produce great fruits in our roles as…
- wives, daughters, sisters, friends, aunts, godmothers, and stepmothers
- professionals, homemakers, artists, educators, entrepreneurs, advocates, and bloggers
- neighbors and community members
And as a Christian, I believe we are also…
- chosen and called by God (1 Peter 2:9, Colossians 3:12)
- children of God (John 1:12, Romans 8:16)
- members of the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:12-13)
So when we are struggling with our inability to bear children, let us take time to reflect on the ways we are abundantly fertile in other areas of our lives.

so fun that you created this link – up! If I do a infertility specific post in the future I will be sure to add it!
Love how you are encouraging everyone to see the FRUITS of other areas in their lives. Awesome post!
I remember during our years of infertility I once told my husband “I am the QUEEN of infertility.” Sure felt like it at the time anyway, lol!
It would have been lovely to have some support blogs and stuff during that time as I was the only person I knew struggling with it.
I do know that God is faithfully walking you through this! We eventually were blessed with our first child after years of trying. Then blessed with a second child after more years of trying. Five years later we conceived again but God took that little one home.
Many more years of trying again but God did not choose to bless us with another little one. While I would have loved a bigger family I am thankful for the two that I have. I pray God soon blesses you with a precious little one as well. Thank you for linking up to Making Your Home Sing Monday!
