This week got off to a rough start. We had a friend announce a pregnancy and it was a particularly difficult one for us to hear. Of course, we are thrilled for them, but it’s one that really made us feel our own disappointment.
I’d also had a non-stop headache for several days and was getting quite grouchy and depressed. And my throat had been scratchy for a few days, so I was worried I was coming down with a cold. However, on Tuesday I got to increase my estrogen patches from 2 to 3 and I was feeling much better within 12 hours.
The injection marks from the Lupron and Heparin injections made my stomach look like a vampire went to town! I’ve definitely had a lot more bruising on this frozen cycle than on our fresh cycle- most likely due to the blood-thinning effects of Heparin and aspirin.
On Friday, we stopped Lupron shots and began progesterone-in-oil (PIO) injections. The first injection hurt SO BAD, and all the oil spurted out of me. I’d never had that much pain with PIO during the fresh cycle, and we definitely never had oil spurt out. We were clueless as to why it happened, until my husband realized he hadn’t changed needles after drawing up the oil. Yes, he injected me with the HUGE, GINORMOUS needle! We had a good laugh about that!
I’m still going strong on my gluten-free and caffeine-free diet. I’ve avoided both substances for three weeks now (minus one bit of bread pudding last night). This was definitely easier to do than it was during my fresh cycle.
My scan on Wednesday showed that my lining was at 6.9mm. My RE likes to get it to 9mm (although he said some doctors are fine with it being at 7mm) before doing a transfer, so he added 2 tablets of Estrace to my protocol. By Friday my lining was at 9.0mm exactly, so we are good-to-go for our transfer this Wednesday!
