We’re getting ready for IVF again. My 2nd cycle will be starting next month. I’ve been on birth control for a few weeks now, and will stop taking it in 9 days. My cycle will officially begin on June 30th when I start my stims. I received my protocol calendar last week, and it’s basically the same protocol we used in for our first fresh cycle (which resulted in a chemical pregnancy), except this time we’ll add the heparin and aspirin.
My clinic was also kind enough to donate some meds to me. They gave me 3 boxes of Endometrin, 2 boxes of Menopur, 1 box of Follistim 900 IU, and 3 boxes of Follistim 300 IU. I’m the most grateful for the Follistim because that has been the most expensive medication. I also had some leftovers from our previous cycles, so hopefully the total cost of medication will be much lower this time.
I’m feeling pretty neutral about this cycle so far. I am happy that I’m on my summer vacation now (I work at a school), because I do feel it will be beneficial to be able to relax during this cycle. But I also don’t want to get my hopes up too much.
I do plan on going gluten and caffeine-free again. I’ll start doing that a few days before stims begin. I’ll keep you all updated on a weekly basis! Thanks so much for the prayers and encouraging words.

Thank you, Amanda!

Thanks, Karissa! Your story gives me hope!
Exciting times ahead. Praying this cycle goes perfectly for you!
Thank you, Amie!
How exciting! I hope this cycle goes smoothly for you. It’s definitely a positive thing that the timing worked out this way so you can relax and focus on maintaining your health and sanity through this process. I’ll be following for updates! 🙂
So hopeful for you that this is *the* cycle! Yea for free meds and the summer off to relax.
Thank you, Lara!
Thinking of you on this next cycle!
Also, have you heard of the compassionate care program? I don’t know if it’s outside of California or what, but my doctor (after several bouts with medication) told me about it and now I’m eligible for discounted Follistim and the trigger shot. Hopefully you have all you need and won’t ever need to purchase it again, but it’d definitely be something to look into, as I know, any discount and donations can help in this expensive process.
xoxo
Thanks, Katelin. Yes, my clinic told me about it, but unfortunately we’re above the income levels for that program. I wish it took more than just a flat income level into account. We live in one of the most expensive areas in the US, so even though our income may seem high, it’s very disproportionate when you factor in the cost of living. Sigh…
Hi Lisa, I’m your neighbor at Titus 2sDay. I’m glad the Lord directed me to your site. I am praying this will season will be blessed and result in joy. We struggled with secondary infertility. I remember the emotional roller-coaster.
Deb, thanks so much for the prayers!
Praying and hoping for you girl!! So glad you will be on a break and able to relax. Xo

I love how positive you sound while writing this, my best friend went through IVF a few times. I can understand it must be hard to stay positive and keeping trying. You are so brave and so strong. That’s amazing too that the clinic donated medicine that is what stops some from keep going as the cost is high. I wish you all the luck in the world I possibly can and sending prayers for you on this next attempt. Thank you so much for sharing your story and linking up to Share With Me. #sharewithme

I’ll start my first IVF cycle pretty much at the same time as you. My sister had an chemical pregnancy too at her firts IVF, and on the second, agains all odds, she got pregnant of a beautiful baby girl who’s almost a year old now.
