Infertility is scary.
We’re afraid our treatments won’t work. We’re afraid we’ll go broke in the process. We’re afraid of what it will do to our bodies and our relationships. We’re afraid of what people will think if we decide to stop treatment or if we decline to pursue adoption.
How do we keep the fear away?
I can’t pretend that I’ve figured out the answer to that question just yet. But I do know I’ve kept moving in spite of fear.
Perhaps that’s part of the answer – to keep moving, keep going, keep pushing through it.
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear. – Nelson Mandela
Another way I keep moving is remembering that God promises to give me strength in scary times.
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. – Isaiah 41:10
