My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever. – Psalm 73:26 (NLT)
My younger brother Peter was a voracious eater as a child. He ate anything you put in front of him (well, except carrots), and never seemed to get full. He’d often get hungry in between meals and ask our mother for a snack, saying, “I need a something to hold me up.” His phrase became a part of our family vocabulary and we still say it today.
I don’t know about you, but infertility can make me feel real weak. Hormones, emotions, and stress make me cry easier. I get discouraged quicker than I used to. Sometimes I feel broken- both physically and emotionally.
I need something to hold me up.
Isaiah 41:10 says that God will hold us up in His hands during our times of trouble.
Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
This doesn’t mean our trouble will disappear. There will still be tough days. But God’s strength can sustain us and keep us from utter despair.
As you pray today, ask God to “hold you up” with his strength during infertility.
