“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.” – Jeremiah 17:7 (NLT)
The longer I walk this road through infertility, the more I understand that Christ is the only thing in which I can have full confidence.
When we first started trying to conceive, I put my confidence in my cycle charts. I faithfully tracked my daily temperatures and fertility symptoms, knowing that I’d certainly be pregnant in a few months.
When fertility testing revealed less-than-stellar sperm and a luteal phase defect, I put my confidence in Clomid and the IUIs. Surely they correct our problems and we’d conceive soon.
After 3 IUIs ended up negative, we put our hopes in IVF. Two failed fresh IVF cycles and one failed frozen cycle later, my confidence in assisted reproductive technology is shattered.
We have plans to continue trying IVF in the next few months. But I’m no longer confident that technology will help us conceive a child.
What I am confident in is this: If God’s plan is for me to give birth to a child, then He (and He alone) will make it happen. Maybe it will be through IVF, or maybe I’ll have a miracle natural pregnancy.
If God’s plan for me doesn’t include pregnancy, then I’m confident He has something else up His sleeve.
I’ll admit I’m terrified of what His plan might be. But if I really believe God is who I say He is (loving, good, all-powerful), then I must be confident that His plan is wonderful and perfect.
As you pray for confidence today, ask God to help you see His goodness, His love, and His plan for you.

I found myself nodding away reading every word. I truly believe that. I am terrified too but I also have full confidence in the Lord for accomplishing what He has planned to accomplish. Thank you for this reminder.
I hope you are making a book out of all of these!!!
I was thinking about it, Caroline. I just might!
