“We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need.” – Colossians 1:11
I often talk say that infertility is a journey. It’s been almost 3 years for me. Others have traveled this road for much longer, while some are just starting out.
No matter how long your journey is, there will be days when it seems too much. That’s when we need to rely on Christ’s power to get us through.
But endurance is more than just getting through without giving up.
The word we translate as endurance in the verse above comes from the Greek word hypomonēn. According to Thayer’s Greek Lexicon, this word is used several times in the Bible to describe the “characteristic of a [person] who’s unswerved from [their] deliberate purpose and [their] loyalty to faith and piety by even the greatest trials and sufferings.”
Unswerved from our deliberate purpose and our loyalty to faith. That’s more than just getting through!
I don’t merely want to survive infertility. I want to want to be unswerved and steadfast! Don’t you?
As you pray today, ask God to help you remain unswerved in your purpose and in your loyalty to him during your sufferings.
