10 Things You Might Not Know About Me

I’ve been writing a lot of serious posts lately, so I thought I’d lighten things up today.  I was thinking about how I share some of the most intimate details of my reproductive life on this blog, but not much else about the rest of my life. So, here’s a few things you might not know about me.

1.  The first time I met my husband I was on a date… with another guy!  I was on a double date with a guy I was dating, my best friend, and her husband.  We walked into a restaurant and my best friend goes, “Hey, there’s that guy I’ve been wanting to set you up with!”  I was so mortified because I was with another guy.  I hid while she went to talk to him.  We didn’t actually talk until we met again six months later.

2.  Our second meeting wasn’t magical either.  In fact, I dumped my husband on our third date.  You can read more about our story on Adrie’s blog.

3.  I like to crochet.  I can’t do really advanced stuff, but I’m pretty proud of this beanie I made myself.

4.  I’m a Trekkie.  Not of the William Shatner variety; I prefer Patrick Stewart.  I grew up watching TNG (if you know what that stands for then you’re a Trekkie, too) and all the series that followed. 

5.  If I could do anything in the world, I’d be a ballerina.  Unfortunately for me, I’m too short and too curvy (not to mention I was a mediocre dancer), but it didn’t stop me from trying when I was younger!

6.  Reduced Fat Ruffles Potato Chips are my downfall.  I’ve been known to take down a whole bag in one sitting.  My fantasy is getting them to sponsor my blog and pay me with a lifetime supply of chips.  If anyone from Frito-Lay is reading this, call me…

7.  I hate popsicle sticks.  And tongue depressors.  I’d rather get a shot than have the doctor look down my throat.  Something about the unfinished wood gives me chills.  It’s like scratching nails on a chalkboard.  My brother used to torment me by chasing me around the house with wooden spoons.

8.  I’ve mentioned on the blog that I’m a school librarian.  But I also teach piano lessons.  I teach young beginners and currently have six students.

9.  I have another blog.  Actually two other blogs.  I rarely update them.  Amateur Nester is my passion and definitely my favorite.

10.  I sleep with my eyes open.  Not all the way open.  More like squinty-open.  It freaks people out.
