My apologies for posting later than usual today. I usually prep my posts over the weekend, but I was feeling a little under-the-weather, so I didn’t quite get to it.
I did a lot of reading this weekend and I wanted to share a quote that resonated with me. It’s from The Encouragement Project: 21 Heart-to-Heart Ways to Show You Care by Holley Gerth. In the chapter on Courage, she writes this gem:
“…being courageous is not an emotion or an option. It’s a commandment. Over and over in Scripture, God tells his people to be courageous. I love what he often does next- he follows that command with a compelling ‘because.’
Because I am with you.
Because I have promised.
Because I will do this through you.
God knows that courage isn’t easy. No human can face danger and not feel fear. We’re simply not created that way. Most of the time that survival system serves us well. And yet for all of us, there are moments when God wants to override that system and asks us to lean in and listen harder to his voice than to the fear yelling at us to stop. Because courage changes the world. It breaks through what is and leads into what’s to come. And we become different people in the process too.”
I don’t know what kind of fear you’re facing today. For me, it’s the fear of our next IVF cycle failing. Perhaps some of you fear you’ll never be able to afford IVF. Some of you might be pregnant and live in constant fear of miscarriage. God doesn’t promise none of that will happen, BUT he does promise to be with us. And he does promise to use our courage through the scary moments to change us.
Oh, I know that’s a tough pill to swallow. Frankly, I feel like infertility has already changed me enough. Haven’t I had enough transformation?
But God is Love, so when we walk through scary times let us rest in the knowledge that Love leads us.
