Unless you follow me on Twitter or on Facebook, you may not have known that my husband and I recently had a chance to share about our struggle with infertility in church.
About three weeks ago, in preparation for a blog post I’m writing, I put a call out on my personal Facebook to see if anyone was aware of pastors who have spoken about infertility from the pulpit. I received a message from the pastor of the church I grew up in. He referred me to a pastor friend of his, and he also asked if Tom and I might be willing to share a bit of our infertility story during an upcoming sermon he was preaching about waiting on the Lord.
We were nervous, but we knew almost immediately that we had to do it. We’d complained so often about how hard church can be for couples struggling with infertility, and now we were presented with a chance to increase awareness and give voice to infertile couples.
I was so moved by our pastor’s heart for people experiencing infertility and loss, and we were greatly encouraged by the amount of support we’ve received since speaking. If you’d like to watch the video of interview, you can see it here. The sermon starts at around 34:55 and our part starts at around 47:15. I highly encourage you to watch the entire sermon.
