I came across this verse recently and it made me pause.
God’s people, the Israelites, had to wander through a desert for forty years when they were exiled from Egypt. They got thirsty and began to complain to their leader, Moses. Moses cried out to God for help and God miraculously provided for them by making water come from a rock (Exodus 17:1-7).
I never connected this story with infertility before, but I think there’s an application.
Infertility is associated with the word barren. And when I think of something barren, a desert-like image comes into my mind.
Dry. Dusty. Parched. Lacking fruit. Thirsty.
But God promises provision for His people (Philippians 4:19). So when we are thirsty from our time in the infertility desert, let us remember that Jesus is our Living Water (John 4:14). He will lead us through our desert, refreshing us and providing for us.

I have a 6 part series on my blog beginning with our struggle with infertility and our decision to try IVF.
I write often about my infertility journey in hopes that it comforts just one person. I have been there and I know the heartache that it brings. Please know that I am with you in your journey.
